Der Ring an einem Abend / The Ring in one evening
Richard Wagner
An abridged version of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen
Der Ring an einem Abend is none other than a four-hour version of Richard Wagner's "Ring" (a full performance of the cycle takes place over four evenings, with a total playing time of about 15 hours, depending on the conductor's pacing). An incredible challenge that brings a total of eight singers together to perform all the characters of the famous Tetralogy, accompanied by an orchestra of twenty chamber musicians. In this new production by French director, Philippe Arlaud (whom we owe the 2002 Tannhäuser production at the Bayreuth Festival), the tragedy of the "Ring" is rendered clearly understandable and can be experienced up close in a fascinating wagnerian immersion.
